Developing curriculum and pathways in Electronic and Computer Engineering through the establishment of an Industry cluster on the Gold Coast.
A Collaboration and Structural Reform grant was obtained to fund research into, establishment of, and industry consultative committee for the Gold Coast Region Electrical, Electronic and Computer Industry and the curriculum development to implement and develop the educational articulation required to advance and stabilise those industries in the Gold Coast region.
This project is seeking to overcome the industry fragmentation with respect to supply of educational pathways and general educational needs of theses industries in this region. This fragmentation has led to a shortage of trained people in this region and a culture of poaching between employers has arisen. To help reduce these problems it is proposed to establish an industry-education cluster comprising of employers, industry associations, Gold Coast City Council, Griffith University, Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.
