To meet the shortage of science students entering the workplace, the Federal Government will slash the maximum student contribution for new students studying science and maths (including statistics) by almost half.According to the Federal Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, you could be eligible to pay just $4,162 per EFTSL instead of $7,412 in 2009.
Students graduating with a maths (including statistics) or science degree from second semester 2008 onwards will also be eligible to receive an average reduction of around half of their annual HELP debt repayments if they work in a maths or science-related occupation, including teaching these subjects
in secondary school.
