The first degree of its kind in Queensland, the Bachelor of Aviation is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required for the first five years of employment as a commercial pilot. It will also provide you with the core skills needed for lifelong learning in the rapidly changing aviation environment.

The Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot Stream) consists of three years of full-time academic courses plus one year full-time of flight training, making it a four year program in total.  Students will complete Years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor of Aviation academic program before taking a leave of absence in 3rd year to undertake full-time flight training via the Graduate Diploma of Flight Management.   The 3rd year of academic studies of the Bachelor of Aviation will be undertaken in the year following the Graduate Diploma of Flight Management (Year 4).

Fee-Help is available to eligible students for the Graduate Diploma program; however, the program cost is approximately $20,000 more than the Fee-Help allowance, so students will need to have these additional funds available before commencing the Graduate Diploma in 3rd year.

International students, and domestics students who wish to self-fund their flight training, will complete the 3 year academic program via the Aviation Stream.

Applying for admission

Admission to the Bachelor of Aviation can be applied for by Australian students through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) or by international students through Griffith International.

Persons who already hold any existing Civil Aviation Safety Authority licence or rating may apply for Professional Entry through the Griffith University Student Administration Centre.

We offer postgraduate aviation programs part-time or full-time, via the internet as well as on campus.
