Financial Planning Association of Australia - Scholarship in Bachelor of Commerce (Professional)

The FPA (Financial Planning Association of Australia) is the peak professional body for financial planning in Australia, representing approximately 12 000 individuals and businesses. Over 9000 of its 12 000 members are practicing financial planners. The FPA and its members strive to improve the financial wellbeing of all Australians.

Students must be able to demonstrate academic propensity through an exceptional performance in prior learning (school, TAFE or other higher education) and demonstrate a strong interest in Financial Planning.

Applicants will need to demonstrate leadership abilities or the potential for outstanding leadership through such activities as community service and be available for interview by the Selection Committee.

Applicants must have met relevant School or Faculty entry requirements for admission to a Bachelor of Commerce (Professional) program on a full-time basis.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship a candidate must:
  • be offered and accept a place in the Bachelor of Commerce (Professional) - Financial Planning
  • be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident.
Selection will be based on the following criteria:
  • the scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and expressed interest in the major area of Financial Planning. (Section 4 is to be addressed in writing, no more than 500 words).
    and/or
  • meet equity criteria in either rural, socio-economic or be of Indigenous Australian or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Other selection criteria will include:
  • ability to demonstrate academic propensity through an exceptional performance in prior learning (School, TAFE, or other Higher Education). Documentation to be attached to the application form.
  • demonstrated leadership abilities, or the potential for outstanding leadership through activities such as community service
  • demonstrated strong interest in Financial Planning. Applicants to submit a statement (no more than 500 words), addressing this criteria.
  • be available for interview by the Selection Committee.
