Griffith Asia Institute researchers are examining the evolving security, energy needs and politics in the Asia Pacific region and its capacity to respond to changes in the security environment. Griffith Asia Institute pioneered the 'China-Australia Future Dialogues', which will improve relationships between Australia, China and other Asian countries.
This initiative reflects Griffith’s long tradition in Asian studies — Griffith was the first Australian university to offer a degree in Asian studies in 1976.
Griffith's Centre for Governance and Public Policy looks into the capacity, sustainability and accountability of governments. Centre researchers are leading reform in Queensland Government bodies to help create a more modern, efficient and effective public service. They have also uncovered the challenges faced by Indigenous communities in negotiating mining agreements with corporations.
