Research Leadership Award
- Professor Stuart Bunn, Australian Rivers Institute
Professor Stuart Bunn, winner of the research leadership award, has led research in Australia's aquatic ecosystems for more than two decades. As Director of one of Australia's leading stable isotope tracing facilities, he has conducted innovative research into the sources and fate of energy and nutrients that support aquatic food webs. Professor Bunn has been instrumental in bringing together researchers, both nationally and internationally, and has focused on the science that underpins river and wetland protection and restoration and how human activities impact on freshwater systems.

Mid-Senior Career Researcher Award
- Professor Alfred Lam, Griffith Health Institute
Professor Alfred Lam is a molecular biologist, whose research focuses on the mechanisms, roles and clinical applications of genetic mutations in human cancers. Professor Lam is breaking new ground in cancer studies, exploring molecular pathology of human cancers, including thyroid, adrenal and colorectal cancers and has discovered and characterised 5 novel oncogenes in human cancers.

Research Group or Team Award
- Quantum Information Science led by Professor Howard Wiseman, Centre for Quantum Dynamics
The Quantum Information Science team includes Professor Howard Wiseman, Associate Professor Geoff Pryde and Dr Austin Lund and their research program investigates both the fundamentals of quantum theory and its applications to new technologies. This research team from the Centre for Quantum Dynamics have an outstanding track record and have produced work of the highest scientific merit and importance in quantum information.
Early Career Researcher Award
- Dr Keith Townsend, Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing
Since receiving his doctorate in 2005, Dr Keith Townsend's research has focussed on workplace and organisational policies and the impact these policies have on employee and organisational outcomes. Dr Townsend has developed an exceptional record of achievements as an early career researcher with a large number of quality publications and has made a positive contribution and impact on the government and community in workplace issues.

Research Leadership Awards- Professor Patrick Weller, Centre for Governance and Public Policy
- Professor Ron Quinn, Eskitis Institute
Professor Patrick Weller, winner of one of two research leadership awards, has been at Griffith for more than two decades, contributing extensively to politics and public policy in Queensland and in Australia.
Professor Ron Quinn, also won a research leadership award, has contributed to the search for new drugs from nature to fight diseases, including cancer, neglected, infectious and neurodegenerative conditions.
Mid-Senior Career Researcher Award- Professor Lyn Griffiths , Griffith Health Institute
Winner of the individual mid-career or senior researcher category, Professor Lyn Griffiths' research in understanding migraine has been ground-breaking
Research Group or Team Award- Health Places Healthy People research program, led by Professor Elizabeth Kendall
Research is always a collaborative effort and this team stands out for their contribution to community health services, including their commendable work in helping the disabled and promoting healthy lifestyles in the Logan-Beaudesert community.
Early Career Researcher Award- Dr Elena Marchetti , Socio-Legal Research Centre
Dr Elena Marchetti has developed an excellent reputation for her work in Indigenous justice issues since receiving her doctorate in 2005
