Biography

Professor Searle was appointed as Foundation Dean for the School of Medicine, Griffith University in 2004, the first female medical Dean in Australia. She has more than 20 years expertise and experience in health as a service provider (clinically active obstetrician), manager, leader, educator and researcher.

Her external roles include being an executive member of Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand, member of the Australian Medical Council and member of the Medical School Accreditation Committee of the Australian Medical Council. She was also recently Chair of the Queensland Maternal and Perinatal Quality Council.

Her research interests include a 3 phase longitudinal cohort study examining the predictive factors that impact on medical graduates workforce decisions and ‘The Logan Study’ – a 25 year cohort study examining the social determinants of health in populations of South East Queensland.

As well as liking creativity, effecting change, tackling socio-economic inequalities and taking risks she has become a recent golfing tragic!
