Prakash Chathoth is an Associate Professor in the Department of Tourism, Leisure, Hotel and Sport Management at Griffith University. He has over 20 years of combined academic and industry experience, of which 15 years have been dedicated to academia in Australia, Asia, United States, and Europe. He has been actively involved in activities outside the classroom including research, executive training, and consulting. Several of his papers have appeared in top-tier hospitality journals including the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research and the International Journal of Hospitality Management. He serves on the editorial board of six hospitality/service management/business journals. His co-authored paper was selected as the Article of the Year for 2007 by the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research. His publications include chapters in the Strategic Management and Marketing Handbooks (Elsevier Publishing House, UK).
Recent education-related activities include consultancy (UNWTO project) provided to the Indian Government to redesign their hotel schools’ curricular structure (including workshop sessions) as well as consultancy (UNWTO project) provided to the teachers of Guilin Institute of Tourism, China for developing their curriculum. He is also a team member of the project run by the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan, related to curriculum development and implementation under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of Sri Lanka. He also conducted workshops for a teacher’s delegation sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education, Govt of Malaysia, and has been actively involved in executive training.
His educational qualifications include a PhD in Strategic Management and Corporate Finance applied to the service/hospitality industry in 2002 from Virginia Tech, USA and a Master’s degree in 1996 from the ESSEC Business School (IMHI-Cornell-ESSEC), France.
