Ms Melissa Pocock is a Lecturer in the Department of Tourism, Leisure, Hotel and Sport Management on the Gold Coast Campus of Griffith University teaching Real Estate and Property Development Law.
Prior to entering academia she was a Senior Associate at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers, Brisbane for approximately two years specialising in property development law. She was also a Senior Associate (and prior to that a Solicitor) at Minter Ellison Lawyers, Gold Coast, for approximately six years specialising in property development law and property finance law.
Ms Pocock holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honors) and a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Griffith University. She is also enrolled in a PhD program through the Griffith University Law School and was offered the Australian Postgraduate Scholarship for completion of her PhD. Her thesis is examining whether developers should be entitled to compulsorily acquire “remaining units” within a community titles scheme to facilitate redevelopment of those older schemes .
