Biography
Dr Jennifer Whitty is a Senior Lecturer with the Centre for Applied Health Economics, based at the School of Medicine, Griffith University. Her role focuses on leading and developing health economics and health services research. She has extensive experience in health technology assessment and economic evaluation, including in the evaluation of pharmaceuticals.Jennifer’s research interests focus on measuring preferences for health care interventions and services, and using these preferences to inform economic evaluation and health care decision-making. Her research is also developing methodologies for measuring preferences around health care, and she is an expert in the application of choice-based methods (such as the discrete choice experiment) to quantify preferences. Jennifer has considerable competitive research and consultancy experience. In 2009, Jennifer was invited to the Editorial Board for the international journal “Applied Health Economics and Health Policy”, and in 2010 she was awarded a prestigious Smart Futures Fellowship by the Queensland Government.
Prior to completion of her doctoral thesis in the field of Health Economics, Jennifer has diverse experience in pharmacy practice. She has completed post-graduate qualifications in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice and undertaken roles in hospital, community, academic and policy settings in both the UK and Australia.
