Academic Profile and Research Expertise
Dr Ali Green is a lecturer in the Griffith Institute for Higher Education. She has many years of teaching experience in the tertiary sector in the field of communication, both in Australia and overseas. She has particular expertise in cultural diversity and cross-cultural communication having taught in Auckland on affirmative action academic bridging courses for Maori and Pacific Islanders and courses where the majority of students were new immigrants, in London on courses for young Indian and West Indian immigrants and on the Gold Coast at an international university (Bond University). Dr Green has expertise in designing curricula and learning activities to support students from diverse backgrounds, including Indigenous students and students from low socio-economic backgrounds. She is involved in supporting academic staff in managing the diverse needs of students across the University with a particular focus on the Logan campus.
Dr Green is working on a national study of the teaching-research nexus, funded by the Carrick Institute for Learning and Teaching. This project involves extensive collaboration with partners at the University of Melbourne, Queensland University of Technology and United Kingdom higher education experts, including Professors Alan Jenkins, Mick Healey and Paul Blackmore. She is currently promoting research-based learning initiatives at Griffith University through the production of good practice guides and academic staff workshops.
