Biography
Belinda Crissman is a Lecturer at the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Griffith University. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Griffith University and her previous degrees from Griffith University and Queensland University of Technology.
Belinda has previously worked as a psychologist with adolescent forensic clients, and on a NHMRC research project examining early intervention in psychosis treatment. Her research areas include adolescents who have sexually offended, therapeutic engagement in counselling/rehabilitation programs, psychosis and early intervention, ecosystemic approaches to rehabilitation of offenders, mental disorder and crime, and the development of tools to enhance teaching and learning. Belinda recently completed a range of studies examining therapeutic engagement with adolescents who have sexually offended, and was awarded a Teaching and Learning grant to develop a university degree program navigation tool to assist students with career choices and enhance their sense of purpose. Current research interests include the health status of female prisoners, and the role of mental disorder in crime. Her work has appeared in journals including Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, Behavioural Sciences and the Law, Clinical Psychologist and Memory.
