Expedited review portal

In accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research the University has established an expedited ethical review system.

Human research that involves minimal risks or ethical issues qualifies for Expedited Ethical Review Level 1 (E1). Research that involves some risks or ethical issues, but these are easily managed, or some other categories of applications (eg renewal applications, or research already approved by another HREC) may qualify for Expedited Ethical Review Level 2 (E2). Only research that does not qualify for E1 or E2 must be submitted for full ethical review.

The Griffith University Expedited Ethical Review Checklist has been produced both to assist applicants determine whether or not their project qualifies for E1 or E2 and to apply for ethical clearance via these expedited review paths.

The Checklist is web-based, is “smart” (in that it presents questions relevant to the particular protocol), and offers contextual help. It can be submitted online and the progress of an application can be tracked online.

Instructions
  1. Sign into the Griffith Portal using your normal username and password.
  2. Once signed in, go to the 'Research' section.
  3. The menu item 'Ethics' will appear. Click on this menu to access 'My Ethics' workbench for Expedited Review.
Filling Out the Checklist

The Checklist is an online form which progressively appears as you fill out the form. The online form includes help files to assist you to respond to specific questions. Below is a consolidated instructions booklet that can be printed off and referred to online.
