Mr Christopher Madden commenced his work at Griffith University after five years at the University of Queensland as foundation International Director from 1997 to 2001, where he developed that portfolio before moving to Griffith. Since 1988 he has been involved in international education, as the Headmaster of an international school and Dean of Students at Bond University.
Chris is a member of the Universities Australia Deputy/Pro Vice Chancellors International Committee, the Innovative Research Universities Australia International Committee and the Study Queensland Industry Council Working Group. He is also a member of the Australian Universities International Directors Forum and the Australia India Universities Youth Forum (International Development Program Education Australia Ltd). Chris also represents Griffith University as the Vice President of the Asia Pacific Association for International Education.
Areas of responsibility
As Pro Vice Chancellor (International), Chris has executive level leadership, management and budgetary control over Griffith International, which incorporates three areas: The International Office; The Griffith English Language Institute; and the International Business Development Unit.
He is responsible for international development, international policy, strategic planning, international projects, pre-tertiary and concurrent English language programs, the development of global partnerships, international student recruitment, mobility and international student support.
Griffith International provides the University with a coordinated and strategic approach to the many international issues facing Australian universities today.
