Vice Chancellor 2002 - 2005
Professor Glyn Davis AC became Vice Chancellor and President of Griffith University in January 2002. He served until January 2005, when he became Vice Chancellor of the University of Melbourne.
Professor Davis spent nearly twenty years at Griffith, joining as a lecturer in Public Policy in 1985 and eventually being appointed as a Professor in 1998.
While at Griffith, Professor Davis was awarded the Harkness Fellowship for 1987-1988 to the United States of America and worked at the University of California Berkeley, the Brookings Institution in Washington and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
He also undertook secondments to work in the public sector. Professor Davis held senior posts with the Queensland Government as Commissioner for Public Sector Equity with the Public Sector Management Commission (1990-1993), Director-General of the Office of the Cabinet (1995-1996) and Director-General of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (1998-2002).
Professor Davis was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia on Australia Day 2002 and a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia in 2003. He is chair of the Australia and New Zealand School of Government and a Director of Australia 21.
