AUQA audit steering committee

As Griffith has a culture of innovation and responsiveness, of review and improvement, the University community has an important role to play in the preparation for the audit, under the guidance of the Senior Project Officer - AUQA Audit, Ms Karen van Haeringen, who is charged with managing the Cycle 2 AUQA audit preparation.  The Senior Project Officer reports directly to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor John Dewar.  The work undertaken in preparation for the audit is also supported by the AUQA audit steering committee.

The AUQA audit steering committee includes:

  • Mr Colin McAndrew, Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration);
  • Mr Chris Madden, Pro Vice Chancellor (International);
  • Ms Janice Rickards, Pro Vice Chancellor (Information Services);
  • Professor Sally Borbasi, Deputy Chair, Academic Committee and Chair, Programs Committee;
  • Professor Debra Creedy, Dean (Academic), Griffith Health;
  • Mr Dave Edwards, Dean (Learning and Teaching), Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology;
  • Dr Glenn Finger, Deputy Dean (Learning and Teaching), Faculty of Education;
  • Professor Art Shulman, Adviser, Quality/International Accreditation, Griffith Business School;
  • Ms Wendy Marchment, Director, Office of Quality, Planning and Statistics; and
  • Ms Karen van Haeringen, Senior Project Officer - AUQA Audit (Secretary).

The role of the steering committee is to:

  • Be the key reference and support group for the quality audit, with respect to strategy, content and processes;
  • Coordinate the efforts of various elements of the University;
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the self-review;
  • Assist in the development of the Performance Portfolio;
  • Work with the external Quality Advisor to enhance QA processes and practices within the University; and
  • Assist with change management.
