It's never too early to consider how the program you are studying may lead to your preferred career. Some programs such as teaching, nursing, and pharmacy are closely related to one particular occupation and the content of what you are studying will be developed around preparation for that specific occupation. In other programs what you study will develop your understanding and skills and provide a useful background in many jobs and industries. Programs will also help you develop skills that transfer directly to future workplaces, for example research, report writing, analytical and thinking skills. Where you have multiple career opportunities, it is important to spend time investigating possible options. Doing this from first year is useful because refining your preferred field of employment takes time.
