How can I make the most of my time at University? Getting focused on your career can ensure you get the most from your degree, and give you direction while you're studying.
Just getting to University and finding your way around might seem like enough for now - but it's never too early to start thinking about your career options, and what you can do along the way to make the most of your time here.
Knowing why you're studying can be a positive incentive to do well, and help keep you focused during the more challenging times in the semester. Research suggests that successful students generally have a career goal or direction that supports their academic effort. Achieving good results in your studies is also a positive factor in marketing yourself to future employers.
Building your career path is about more than getting a job. It involves gathering information about where your program can lead you, what's out there, deciding what you'd like to do and developing your skills. There are free services and resources at University that can help you to chart your career path.
