Once you have decided which degree you want to study, it is important to understand how it is organised so that you know where to get help if you have any questions.
The area responsible for organising and administering your degree program is called a School. Each School is located within a larger group called a faculty.
In order to complete your degree you will study a number of courses. Each course will also have a convenor who is responsible for the overall administration including assessment, co-ordinating the teaching staff and responding to requests for special consideration. Often the course convenor will also take the lectures during the semester.
How can I find out more about my school?
Check out who your first year advisor is by going to the Program advisors and enquiries site of your program. This is an academic staff member who you will meet during your orientation program. They are available to provide support for all first year students. You may find them particularly useful during your first semester of study at Griffith.
Talk to your program convenor (can be found by going to the Program advisors and enquiries site of your program) who can answer questions that you may have about the program and what it involves.
Talk to your SAO - who are an important link between students and the academic staff. They can answer questions that you may have about your courses and degree program if they are not specifically related to your academic work.
Get to know your School. Attending your School and program orientation session is an excellent way to start!
