Research/Creative Expertise

  • Interests include investigation of ‘Flow’ – The Art of Effortless Performance, which has resulted in guest presentations and lectures for various organisations and publication of articles on this topic in journals of the International Double Reed Society, the Australasian Clarinet and Saxophone Society and the Australasian Double Reed Society.

Teaching and Other Experience

  • Head of Woodwind at the Victorian College of Arts and part-time lecturer in oboe at the University of Melbourne for several years, in addition to various periods at the Canberra School of Music ANU, Monash University and Melbourne Conservatorium;
  • Former President of the Australasian Double Reed Society and guest tutor for various organisations such as the Australian Youth Orchestra, Melbourne Youth Orchestra, National Music Camp, and the Australian National Academy of Music;
  • Former full-time member of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and principal positions with the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria, as well as guest appearances with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and The Queensland Orchestra.
