- Has taught and given Master-classes at numerous Music Schools and Festivals throughout the world;
- Specialist in Chamber Music literature and performance, especially the art of String Quartet playing;
- Specialist in Contemporary Music;
- Has premiered over 300 works by contemporary composers;
- Has worked with many of the most significant composers of our time, sucn ah Ades, Andriessen, Barrett, Berio, Birtwistle, Carter, Cerha, Dillon, Ferneyhough, Guerrero, Harvey, Kurtag, Lachenmann, Lim, Lutoslawski, Neuwirth, Pintscher, Rihm, Sciarrino, Donatoni, Stockhausen, Wuorinen, Xenakis, Sender;
- Recording artist, and veteran of over 70 CDs on labels such as CPO, ECM, EMI, Kairos, Mode, Mantaigne-Naive, Teldec, Winter & Winter;
- Ongoing research into extended techniques on string instruments, contemporary performance practise, electro-acoustical works and exploring the connections and boundaries between notated and improvised music;
- Free improvisation as soloist and ensemble player;
- Currently developing and performing new solo works by composers such as Richard Barrett, Roger Redgate, Ming Tsao, Michelle Lou, Geoffrey Gordon and others.
Teaching and Other Experience
- Former member of the Arditti String Quartet (1994-2005);
- Member of the Elision Ensemble, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Adorno Ensemble, SRSound;
- Has appeared as Guest Concert-Master of the Adelaide Symphony and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras, guest Associate Concert-Master of the Sydney Symphony and guest Assistant Concert-Master of the Berkeley Symphony;
- Has also worked with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, New Century Chamber Orchestra, Queensland Symphony and Queensland Philarmonic Orchestras;
- Has Appeared as soloist with Orchestras such as the Munich Philarmonic, Concertgebouw, Berlin Radio, French Radio, Austrian Radio, Junge Deutsche Philarmonie, Queensland Symphony, Tasmanian Symphony and others;
- As a member of the Arditti Quartet, was awarded the prestigious Ernst von Siemens Music Preis (1999) for "lifetime achievement" and twice awarded a Gramophone Award for recordings of Elliott Carter (1999) and Birtwistle (2002) and a Deutsche Schallplatten Preis for their recording of works by Matthias Pintscher. Additionally, the Arditti Quartet was awarded the Grand Choc by the Academie Charles Cros for their recorded legacy;
- Has formerly served on the Faculties of Stanford University, UC Berkeley and Mills College.
