Research/Creative Expertise
- Research expertise extends across a range of topics that explore the contemporary realities of music-making, and includes community music, women's music, cross-cultural music projects, cultural policy, conducting practice and pedagogy and music autoethnography;
- Dr Bartleet was Research Fellow on Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre’s ARC Linkage project Sound Links (2007-2008), one of Australia's largest studies into the dynamics of community music;
- She is currently the Project Leader on an Australian Learning and Teaching Council Innovation and Development funded project that looks at service learning in the performing arts with Indigenous communities (2011-2013);
She is currently a Chief Investigator on Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre's ARC Linkage project Captive Audiences (2011-2013) that examines performing arts programs in Australian prisons; - She has recently co-edited three recent books on music research in Australasia, music autoethnography and pre-service music teacher education;
- She has been a conductor of school, university and community ensembles from Australia, Thailand, Singapore and Taiwan.
