Our research training aspires to the highest standards of musical research excellence, where graduates
- demonstrate a profound and systematic understanding of a field of musical study;
- can conceive, design, implement and adapt a substantial process of research with scholarly integrity;
- have made an original contribution through research that extends the frontier of knowledge by developing a substantial body of work;
- are capable of critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas, concepts and processes;
- can communicate with their peers, the larger artistic and scholarly community and with society in general about their areas of expertise;
- play a ongoing creative and proactive role in the advancement of artistic understanding within a knowledge based society.
