The Music Queensland project makes recordings available of rare works from Queensland's colonial period and the early years of the 20th century. Some of the best of Queensland's creative talent is represented here, including major figures of earlier times such as George Sampson, Percy Brier and R.T. Jefferies. Also to be heard are the works of Herr Caflisch, conductor of the Brisbane Liedertafel in the late 19th century, and four female composers including Edwina Adkins.
A narrative evolves through the compositions, from colonial times, the Boer and First World Wars, the Federation movement, to the lived experience of Queenslanders in a variety of locations and pursuits.
The digital music collection of scores and sound recordings resulting from this project are now publicly available at the Music Queensland website.
