Study popular music at the Conservatorium and you'll have 24/7 access to music studios equipped with the latest recording facilities, editing suites and audiovisual postproduction technology.

  • Four professional standard recording studios
  • Six acoustically designed practice and live recording rooms
  • Four audio post production suites
  • Post graduate office and research facility
  • Two multimedia labs labs incorporating MIDI keyboards, Pro Tools LE M Box 2 systems, Apple Logic 9, Reason 4 and Cubase 4 running on Apple IMac computers.

Our recording studios all run Pro Tools audio recording software as their main platform, with a wide range of software plug-ins including Auto Tune, Waves, SSL, and a range of additional Digidesign products.

Each of the four control rooms adopts a slightly different focus, to cater for the different stages of the degree program and student experience levels. These control rooms are all fitted with

  • a selection of valve and tube 'front end' gear including pre-amps, compressors and equalizers.
  • a wide selection of microphones, all industry standard with reputable brand names including Shure, Neumann, Rode, Sennheizer, AKG, Audio Technica to name a few.

The facility also stocks a range of musical equipment including

  • Amplifiers from companies like Fender, Marshall, Orange, Mesa, Ampeg, Peavey and Gallien Kruger.
  • Keyboards with brands such as Korg, Kurzweil, Nord, Roland, Yamaha on-site.

Other equipment includes a range of drum kits (Pearl and PDP), a kawai grand piano and a kawai upright piano.
