In 1999, the launch of the Bachelor of Popular Music degree at the Gold Coast campus signified a new approach in popular music education. In 2008 a school holiday extension program drawing on the strengths of the Bachelor of Popular Music degree signaled the beginning of Rock School.
Rock School is for musicians and music students wanting to expand their skills in popular music. For more information about the individual courses, please visit the Rock School Gold Coast page.
Program details
Students with practical skills in popular music and who are interested in areas of recording and music technology should not miss this opportunity to mix with students with similar interests from across Australia and to work with and learn from highly experienced teachers from the music industry.
- Each Rock School program runs for 5 days.
- Participants attend a series of workshops given by experts in their field culminating in a concert at the end of the week where friends and family may attend. Participants receive a recording of their work, which they can take away with them.
- Classes are limited to 25 participants to ensure that they gain the most from their experience.
- Students will not only meet and interact with other talented young musicians; they will learn how to make the most out of the current conditions of the popular music industry, how to set up a live sound system, and how to use computer music technologies to enhance their creative work. They?ll participate in song writing, rehearsal and performance workshops, and have the opportunity to work with industry-standard recording technology.
Rock School is developing the very best national and international raw talents into innovative and creative musicians.
