As an off-campus student you can borrow from the library in two ways.

  • Go to Griffith University libraries to borrow in person
  • Remote borrowing where you request library books to be sent to your home or copies of articles and book chapters to be scanned and sent electronically.

For Students Living Overseas:

  • You can access all of the above services, except for the dispatch of books
  • Griffith University does not post books to overseas destinations

How to borrow in person

You can borrow material in person from any campus library, provided you bring your current university ID card, which is also your library card. If you don't have a card, complete the
  • Application for off campus student identification card (PDF 261k).

How to borrow remotely

You can borrow material from your remote location by placing a hold via the library catalogue. Ensure that you select the mail radio button, so the items can be posted to you.

  • How to place a hold (PDF 116k)

You can also request us to copy articles and book chapters to be sent electronically, provided your request complies with the Copyright Act. The Act allows copying for study purposes. A reasonable portion is 10% or one chapter per book.

  • Request a copy of a journal article or book chapter from Griffith University when the item is not held electronically

Loan periods and transit times

Loan periods are longer for off-campus students to allow for delivery and return of items. We add an additional 7 days to this initial loan period to cater for this.

Any renewals will be for a normal loan period. For example, the loan period for a Short loan will be 11 days. Each renewal will add only 4 days to the loan period.

You will find a date due slip for each item showing the date they are due back at the library.

Avoid penalties by allowing time for postage so that items are received in the library by the due date.

Returning loans

You have a responsibility to return all materials on time and at your own expense. Please use the address labels provided with your items.
