In 2008, the name of the Carrick Institute was changed to the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC). The award scheme is an important element in the promotion of quality in University learning and teaching.
In 2006, the Department of Education, Science and Technology announced a significant enhancement of the Australian Awards for University Teaching. Organisation and management of the awards shifted to the Carrick Institute, with a change of name from Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) to Carrick Australian Awards for University Teaching (CAAUT).
Australian Awards for University Teaching
The Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) were established by the Commonwealth Government in 1997 to recognise and reward the nation's best teachers. These prestigious awards were hosted by the Department of Education, Science and Technology Australian Universities Teaching Committee and are the highest recognition a University teacher can obtain.
