The Griffith Group Learning and Teaching Citation process has been established to recognise and reward truly engaged teachers who are student-centred and respect students as active members of the Group's learning community. A major contributing factor to achieving student engagement in learning is to have truly engaged teachers, teachers who are passionate about their discipline or profession, who are at the cutting edge of their field, who have a comprehensive and expanding knowledge base, who possess highly refined professional expertise and skills and who are enthusiastic about helping students learn.
There are seventeen Griffith Group Learning and Teaching Citations valued at $2,000 each awarded annually. The Citations may be awarded to individual teachers or to teaching teams.
For the purpose of the citation process a Teaching Team is a group comprising two or more members of academic staff with complementary skills teaching collaboratively into a particular course or set of courses for at least two years.
For the purpose of the citation process a program does not refer to an approved course of academic study leading to an award of the University. Rather the term program refers to an activity, a suite of activities with a common purpose or a service that enhances student learning or engagement. A program may be offered at the institutional, Group, School or course level, across a year or number of years, or directed at particular groups of students.
