Areas of Study

Choose from hundreds of innovative courses that will complement your studies and add an international perspective to your home degree. You can view all Griffith course offerings online via the course catalogue using the Course Search option and view the course areas available at each campus using the Study Areas map in our online brochure.

Selecting your Courses

The following areas of study are not available to Study Abroad students:

  • Film (coded GFS)
  • Postgraduate Psychology (6000 & 7000 level courses coded PSY)
  • Forensic Science courses (coded BBS or BPS)
  • Dentistry (coded DOH)
  • Medicine (coded MED)
  • PGA Golf courses (coded HSL)
  • Architecture courses (coded ENV) unless undertaking a major in this study area. Assessed on a case by case basis
  • Master of Business Administration courses (coded MBA). IMBA courses are available to post-graduate students - see entry requirements.

Please note that courses with a practical component are not available (such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Teacher Education).

In regards to them finding courses please have them follow these simple steps:
1. Visit http://www.griffith.edu.au/programs-courses/course-search
2. Click on ‘Course (unit of study) search’
3. Click on ‘Select by subject area’
4. From the drop down lists select your:

  • academic subject area
  • study abroad semester (eg. semester 1, 2010)
  • campus of choice
  • academic career (undergraduate or postgraduate only)
  • location (choose On Campus)
  • elective option: ignore

5. Click on ‘Find course list'

Research Study Abroad

A range of options exists for Griffith study abroad students to conduct or participate in undergraduate research in areas such as:

  • Engineering
  • Health (excluding Nursing & Psychology)
  • Information & Communication Technology
  • Science / Environmental Science

Work Integrated Learning

Griffith has a strong focus on Work Integrated Learning and some opportunities may be available to study abroad students in areas such as Engineering, IT and Social Work. Please contact the Study Abroad Office for more information.

Internships

Griffith works closely with a professional organisation, Australian Internships, to provide study abroad students with access to internships to complement their study abroad experience.
