Step 6

Australian dollars The fees that you are required to pay are set out in your offer letter from Griffith International. You can pay your fees by Bank Draft or Cheque, Telegraphic Transfer or Credit Card.

  • Fees are normally one semester of tuition fees, plus Overseas Student Health Cover for one semester.
  • If paying by Bank Draft or Cheque, make sure that your name and student ID number appear on the back of the Bank Draft/Cheque.
  • If paying by Credit Card, make sure that you complete the full Credit Card details on the Acceptance of Offer (Written Agreement) provided with your offer letter.
  • If paying by Telegraphic Transfer, the Griffith bank details are on the Acceptance of Offer (Written Agreement) provided with your offer letter. Please ensure that when you accept your offer, you attach a copy of your Telegraphic Transfer receipt to the form so that we can track your payment.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees are revised annually, so the fee quoted in your offer letter may change if your offer was made before that years fees were finalised. To confirm the correct fees before you leave your home country, check your specific program on the Programs and Courses website. If an adjustment is required, you will receive an on-line Statement of Account early in your commencing semester.

Additional costs

These will vary for different programs and student carees, i.e. undergraduate, postgraduate and research, so these are just some common examples:

  • Text books and other reading materials
  • Stationary, photocopying and printing
  • Personal laptop computer (desirable, but not compulsory)
  • Uniforms and laboratory kits
  • Field trips

Refund of fees

A summary of the Griffith University Refund Policy, as it relates to international students, is available with the Request for Refund of Fees form (PDF 30k) for international students.

Overseas Student Health Cover costs

Australian government regulations require international student visa holders to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their study in Australia (with the exception of Norwegian and Swedish citizens, who are exempt from OSHC under a mutual government arrangement)

Your offer letter will include payment of OSHC for the first six months, and you will be invoiced for OSHC each semester at the same time as your tuition fees.

Institution cover at Griffith University

Griffith University’s approved OSHC provider is OSHC WorldCare. International students studying at Griffith University have an OSHC Worldcare policy under Institution Cover, which is taken out by Griffith University on behalf of all our International students. This means you do not have to arrange for OSHC as Griffith University will do this automatically each semester and you will need to pay it each and every semester.

  • Please be aware that OSHC is an additional payment to your tuition fee payment. Having OSHC coverage at all times is a requirement of holding a student visa and non-converage can lead to student visa cancellation as well as cancellation of enrolment at Griffith for non-payment of fees.

This health insurance covers up to 85% of most medical services outside hospital and 100% of scheduled fees in public hospitals. It is important to know that OSHC does NOT cover all medical bills. It does not cover dental services, optical services (glasses and contact lenses), pre-existing conditions, pregnancy or injections and inoculations. If you want your OSHC to include optical and dental expenses you have to join Worldcare Plus which is an additional cost.

  • Make sure that you read the OSHC policy information at OSHC Worldcare

Although your Griffith Institutional OSHC Card will show an expiry date to cover you for the duration of your program. It will only be valid while you are enrolled at Griffith and have paid your fees in full including the fee for your OSHC each semester.

  • If you cancel your enrolment before the Griffith Census Date, in any semester you will not have OSHC cover for that semester.
  • If you cancel your enrolment after the Census Date and you have paid your OSHC fee, you will have OSHC cover for that semester only.

Census date

For the Census and other important dates, download a copy of the Academic Calendar

Family policy

If you have come with your family and you wish to upgrade to a Family Policy, visit the OSHC Representative on your campus or the Griffith International Office. They will provide you with a Change of health cover form (PDF 88k). Return the completed form to an OSHC Worldcare representative or the International Office at the Nathan or Gold Coast campus. For further information on Overseas Student Health Cover visit the OSHC Worldcare website.

Arranging your own health cover

Students not wanting the university to arrange their health cover may do so independently. However, Griffith University International Office staff will require you to provide proof of cover by the Census Date. Upon evidence of your other health cover, Griffith will reverse the charge. As Griffith charges on a semester by semester basis and we want to make sure you are insured, proof of cover and payment will be required each semester.

If you are receiving OSHC through an alternate provider, please print out a Change of Health Cover form (PDF 88k) and complete sections 3 & 4 as well as attaching any documentary evidence before returning it to the International Office at Nathan (N12) Sewell Building or Gold Coast (G33) Student Centre.
