To apply for the Exchange Program you must complete the Outgoing Exchange application from (PDF 629k) and submit it to the Exchange Coordinator together with:

  1. A brief essay explaining your reasons for wishing to participate in the Exchange Program and how the Exchange will fit into and benefit your overall academic program
  2. Two letters of recommendation from Griffith academic staff members who have taught you while you have been at Griffith and can comment on your academic performance. The letters of recommendation must be on Griffith letterhead and signed as they are sent to your host institution. Students going on a language exchange must ensure that at least one of their letters of recommendation is from a language instructor attesting to their linguistic capacity to undertake a language exchange.
  3. An unofficial academic transcript (available through the Griffith Portal)
  4. A copy of your passport valid for at least six months after your return from overseas.
  5. A study plan approved by your Griffith Program Convenor. Please click on the Study plan link on the left hand navigation menu for information about how to complete your study plan.
  6. QCA and QCGU students must submit a portfolio or audition CD/DVD with their application.

Application Deadlines 2012/2013:

Exchange for semester 1, 2012 has closed.

Exchange in Semester 2, 2012:

  • 1st February 2012 - for the USA
  • 15th March  - Law at University of Hong Kong
  • 31st March 2012 - All other countries

Exchange in Semester 1, 2013:

  • 1st July 2012 - USA
  • 31st August 2012 - All other countries 
Please Note:  The exchange office is open over the Summer holidays (December-February),

Please note: some of our partner institutions (particularly for music students) have earlier closing dates. Our individual Partner Institutions webpage state if there is an alternative closing date.
