Black Palm (Normanbya normanbyi) co-dominant in canopy of wet tropical lowland rainforest (complex mesophyll vine forest). This species best developed in "Daintree" rainforests, with outliers south, e.g. Russell River lowlands. Black hard fissile wood used by Aborigines for spears.
