Logging of Hoop Pine (Araucaria cunninghamii) began in early days of settlement, and plantations of it were later established by forestry.
Settled area, head of Brisbane Valley. Floor of valley occupied by cut-over and young grassy eucalypt woodland, which extends in less disturbed forms to hills, on soils derived from acid (siliceous) soil parent materials. Patch of closed-canopy rainforest (microphyll vine forest generally with Araucaria cunninghamii emergents) in distance occupies soils from basic igneous rocks (andesites/granites).
