An understanding of the impact of fires on vegetation is critical to land management. Rainforest spreading under Eucalyptus woodlands has been observed in recent years in North Queensland wet tropics and Cape York Peninsula, linked with fewer fires and increase in rainfall. See comments under Image 12-10.
