Acacia dominated regrowth is typical on these poorer soils throughout the wet tropics, tending to impeded drainage (note remnant Fan Palm - Licuala ramsayi). Regrowth is on Tommy Mackay's block, cleared about 1963, i.e. about 8 years old.
