What is the service?
This service allows you to borrow resources from any Griffith library. You may also borrow resources from other libraries if you are a member of staff or a postgraduate student.
Can I use the service?

If you are a Griffith staff member or student, you can borrow from any of our seven libraries stretching from the Brisbane CBD to the Gold Coast. Access to this service is automatic once you enrol as a student or start your employment at Griffith.

If you would like to know how many resources you can borrow at any one time and for how long, view what can I borrow.

If you are a postgraduate or a staff member, we can also organise for you to borrow from other libraries from across Australia or overseas.

If you are an off-campus student, we can help you borrow remotely from the library.

How do I access this service?

You can walk into your nearest library and borrow resources provided you have your ID card with you. You can also go online to place a hold, renew resources already on loan, and check when resources are due using My Account.

To borrow resources from other libraries, you can submit your requests online.

What can I expect?

We understand how important it is that the resources you need are on the shelves when you need them so we work hard to ensure that:

  • All resources are checked-in and back on the shelves within 10 – 24 hours of their return to the library

We will also process staff requests for resources to be placed on reserve within 3 days of receiving the request.

If you request a resource from another institution we will aim to have your request processed within 24 hours of receipt 90% of the time (excluding weekends and public holidays).

We proactively seek your feedback and aim to have a greater than 85% satisfaction with our services.

The results of our latest survey are available for you to read at:

Do I need to pay?

There are no charges associated with borrowing resources from the Library. However, if you lose or damage an item, you may have to pay the costs of replacing this item so that others may borrow it in the future.

Details of these and any other applicable charges are published on the library website and in the University’s Policy Library.

There are charges associated with borrowing resources from other institutions:

  • To borrow a book or have a journal article copied and delivered costs $3.00 per resource
  • To have a resource delivered urgently costs $24.00 per request
  • The cost of borrowing a resource from overseas will vary and will be calculated at the time of request.
