The Industry Affiliates Program is a Work-Integrated Learning program that has been designed to integrate undergraduate and postgraduate students into the workplace.

Boasting 18 years experience and over 1200 industry placements, the IAP provides final year students the opportunity to develop work-ready skills through the completion of an industry based project designed to deliver meaningful outcomes for organisations.

Through the IAP, industry can engage talented final year Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology students ready to contribute to their organisation.

Industry benefits

The IAP provides organisations the opportunity to tailor an industry based project to address an organisational challenge or opportunity. Students are placed within a company for 2-5 days a week for a 14 week period from late February to early June or late July to November. Projects can be for one student or for a small team, stand alone or part of a larger project. Students contribute and learn within an organisation, bringing with them fresh and innovative ideas.

Griffith University manages the program and tracks student progress to ensure project success is achieved.

Student benefits

As a course within a degree program, the IAP offers students the opportunity to practice the skills of their profession and gain experience working on a project in a work environment. In the IAP students undertake a substantial project that consists of a series of planned experiences with clearly defined goals and pre-determined assessment strategies. This allows students to contribute and learn within an organisation, growing their skills as a professional.

At the conclusion of the program it is anticipated that students will have learned a range of new discipline-specific professional skills, a broad range of generic skills, and will have gained the necessary confidence in their discipline abilities to confidently face their professional career.
