Homestay Placement and Homestay Fees

  • A non-refundable Homestay Placement fee must be received prior to arrival in Australia or evidence of payment e.g. copy of telegraphic transfer receipt.
  • Homestay students are required to pay the homestay family directly 4 week’s homestay fee upon arrival at their accommodation.
  • The initial payment is non-refundable. Please note that Homestay students are not required to give notice during this 4 week period,
  • After the initial 4 week period, students are required to give 1 week’s notice or negotiate with the family should they wish to continue staying in the homestay.
  • If the student requires a new homestay after the first 4 weeks then an additional placement fee will be charged.

Airport Reception

Airport reception is FREE for:

  • New Griffith degree, PQP, Study Abroad or Exchange students who are arriving for the first time to begin their first semester of study. collection from Brisbane and Gold Coast Airports only.

Airport reception is NOT FREE but available for:

  • ELICOS students - refer to your Letter of Offer for charges.
  • Family, guardians or non student friends travelling with you - please include information for any additional passengers on your airport reception application
  • Have not yet received their COE
  • Are enrolled in a QIBT program (except PQP students who are eligible for free collection)

If you are booking airport reception you must:

  • Forward the application 72 HOURS BEFORE you depart your home country.
  • If you are arriving in Australia on the weekend, your application must be submitted by the Wednesday before the weekend of arrival.
  • If you do not arrive at the airport as scheduled you will be liable for an additional fee unless you have advised Griffith of changes to your flight.
  • Airport reception required after 9pm at night will incur an additional $30.00 fee (Brisbane and Gold Coast transfers).
  • No shows at the airport will be charged an additional fee where a student changes their flight details without prior notice and does not arrive at the airport as scheduled.

*If the information provided results in you being accommodated in housing that is unsuitable for your needs or does not allow the homestay family to cater for you then you may be required to move to more appropriate accommodation at your own expense

  • Telegraphic Transfer (TT)
  • Cheque
  • Credit Card


If you wish to send the payment via TT, please follow the steps in the Making Payment section of the portal application.


Students paying by telegraphic transfer are responsible for any bank charges .Please attach a photocopy of telegraphic transfer receipt with this form.



Note: A charge will be placed on your student account for these fees if no evidence of payment is received.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations must be recieved in writing within 72 hours of submitting an application online.
  • Fees apply for all transactions.
  • Cancellation fee applies when students do not arrive at the airport or homestay accommodation as scheduled.

Note: All prices are subject to change and may increase. Correct at time of printing and can change without further notice. If the information provided results in you being accommodated in housing that is unsuitable for your needs or does not allow the homestay family to cater for you then you maybe required to move to more appropriate accommodation at your own expense.

Refund Policy

Refund procedures for Homestay placement application fee.

Applications for refunds will be determined by the Homestay Coordinator and dependant on the specific circumstances. Circumstances may include student cancelled requests due to change of course, change of campus, failure to obtain visa or Homestay department unable to fulfill the student’s requirements for homestay accommodation. Requests for refunds must be submitted to the Homestay Coordinator.

Credit Card Payments can be refunded to the credit card or into the Students Account (only on the same day as the payment was made).

Note: *Students cannot not be guaranteed a refund of the homestay weekly rental fee. This depends solely on the circumstance of the request and is at the discretion of the homestay family.
* Each case will be considered on an individual basis.
