How to complete the Induction Program

The HDR Induction Program consists of the informational segment of the program, and an online quiz which must be completed by students who complete the information segment on-campus, and who complete it online.

The program

HDR students can complete the information segment of the Induction Program in one of two ways:

  • on-campus, face-to-face (see below for current on-campus offerings); or
  • online, via Learning@Griffith

The online quiz

All students must complete the online quiz, regardless of whether the information segment of the program was completed online or on-campus.

Access the quiz, via: Griffith Portal>Learning@Griffith>HDR Induction Program (under the 'Other courses and organisations' heading within L@GU).

Once you reach the L@GU Induction Program homepage, you will have to options:

  • For students who completed the information segment on-campus: select the link 'Start the Induction Quiz now'.
  • For students who did not complete the information segment on-campus, and who wish to complete the program online: select the link 'Start the Induction Program now'.

Quiz certificate

Once the quiz is completed, and you have answered every question, a certificate will appear on screen. You can obtain a copy of this certificate by either:

  1. Printing the page to your office printer.
  2. Printing to Adobe PDF, and saving a copy of the certificate to your desktop.
It is important to print the certificate at the time you complete the quiz, as accessing the certificate at a later day can be complicated.

Students must provide a copy of this certificate when the submit their confirmation of candidature paperwork.

If you have previously completed the quiz, and cannot remember how to access the quiz certificate, try one of the following:

  • If you completed the information segment of the Induction Program on-campus, access the Induction Program Griffith Portal>Learning@Griffith>HDR Induction Program (under the 'Other courses and organisations' heading within L@GU), and select the 'Start the Induction Quiz now' link. Your certificate should then be displayed.
  • If you completed the information segment of the Induction Program online, choose the 'Start the Induction Program now' link, and you will be taken to the beginning of the online program information. Progress through the online program information until you reach Step 2: Candidature environment. From here, access any of the page (e.g. Scholarships) and click on the quiz questions at the bottom of the page. Your certificate should then be displayed.
If you are still unable to access your quiz certificate, and are sure you have completed both the information segment and the quiz, please contact ggrs-events@griffith.edu.au, and include your student number.

Completing the Induction Program online

Students wishing to complete the program online can access the Induction Program via: Griffith Portal>Learning@Griffith>HDR Induction Program (under the 'Other courses and organisations' heading within L@GU).

From the HDR Induction Program homepage, you should choose the link 'start the HDR Induction Program', as this link is for students who have not attended the on-campus program.

This option will progress you through the information, and give you questions to answer at the end of relevant sections

On-campus program

The face-to-face program offers a great opportunity to find out about Griffith's research specific support services and to meet other students. The Induction Program is offered on both the Nathan and Gold Coast campuses twice a year.

Places are limited, so registration is essential (see below).

Please note, if you complete the information segment of the Induction Program online, you will still need to visit the online program at Learning@Griffith to complete the quiz.
