Work Life Balance Project
The balancing of work and non-work responsibilities is of increasing concern for contemporary workers. Changes in employment practices, technology, and social developments have placed the issue of work-life balance at the forefront of occupational health concerns.
While there have been a number of changes made by companies to try and support employee’s better balance their work and non-work lives, it is evident that some policies work well in some industries but not in others.
The purpose of our project is to identify how work and life demands influence health, work performance and family outcomes, as well as identify which work-life policies are of most value to employers and employees.
We are leading this project in conjunction with four other universities:
- Australian National University (Canberra, Australia)
- University of Waikato (Waikato, New Zealand)
- Lingnan University (Lingnan, Hong Kong)
- University of Hong Kong (Pokfulam, Hong Kong)
Data will be collected from various sites within Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and China and will involve over 15,000 employees.
