Changes in social structures and service delivery systems over the past two decades mean that social workers should ideally be multi-skilled and have multiple perspectives on practice.
Griffith offers degrees in social work and human services that reflect these changes.
The School of Human Services and Social Work aims to produce social work and human service practitioners who can:
- Employ an ethical approach to practice, valuing the rights, needs and uniqueness of individuals, groups and communities;
- Effectively employ a variety of interventions and approaches to human service delivery;
- Work effectively within a broad range of organisational settings;
- Critically articulate their social analysis and practice frameworks;
- Respond to the challenges of working in a rapidly changing industry; and
- Understand and appreciate the importance of research to inform and improve human service practice.
Several School staff members have won Griffith University Excellence in Teaching Awards which recognise and reward outstanding teaching. Staff also have an excellent track record in acquiring competitive grants, as well as industry tenders and evaluations.
