Research topic title
The relationship of emotion recognition ability to prosocial and antisocial behaviour in adolescents.
Description
To what extent can emotion recognition abilities predict prosocial or antisocial tendencies in the same group of adolescents? Is there an effect of explicit vs implicit emotion recognition on measures of prosocial or antisocial behaviour? If so, which is the better predictor of what type of behaviour? The present proposal aims to extensively assess the relationship of emotion recognition ability to prosocial and antisocial behaviour in a single sample of Australian adolescents. A multi-method approach will utilise psychophysiological and behavioural measures. This research has the potential to inform the design and delivery of diagnostic and treatment methods that increase the potential for prosocial behaviour and reduce the occurance of antisocial behaviour.
