- Research topic title:
- Neuropsychology of Adult Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
- Description
- Research has shown that Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder continues into adulthood for the majority of children diagnosed with the disorder. Adults with Adult Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder have similar neuropsychological profiles to children with the disorder on standardised assessments of attention, concentration, memory and executive functioning. These underlying cognitive difficulties are believed to be related to adults? higher rates of psychological and functional problems, however to date no one has shown this to be so. This study compares a group of adults with Adult Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder to matched controls using a more theoretically based approach than previous studies, and looks at the relationship between their cognitive functioning and everyday living skills.
