- Research topic title
- Predictors of Mental Health Distress in GID (Transsexualism) from an Identity Theory perspective in an Australian and New Zealand Sample.
- Description
- The study looks at developing an understanding of mental health well being in the transsexual population in Australia and New Zealand based on what research has found in other countries. Current research indicates that even after transitioning to their preferred gender, transsexual individuals continue to experience mental health distress. The study uses a conceptual framework to explore what might be best predictors of mental health distress in the transsexual population once they have transitioned to living in their preferred gender. Presented at Health In Difference Conference, Brisbane, Australia. May 2007. Presented at the World Professional Association of Transgender Health Conference, Chicago, USA, September 2007.
