Clinical Academic Title Holder
Professor Henderson has an extensive career in nursing education, research and leadership nationally in both academic and clinical settings. She is a clinical academic title holder at Griffith, working collaboratively with senior academic staff and Directors of Nursing to maintain the relevance of curriculum. She is also Nursing Director, Education at the Princess Alexandra Hospital where she supervises education initiatives and directives across Metro South District (comprising more than 5,000 nursing staff). Most recently, Professor Henderson was a team leader on a successful ALTC Leadership Grant focusing on 'Leading for Effective Partnering? with Professor Debra Creedy. She has also held an ALTC Associate Fellowship with Dr Heather Alexander on interprofessional learning.
Professor Amanda Henderson has recently been appointed as an Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) Discipline Scholar in the Health discipline. This is a very prestigious and competitive national award.
As a Discipline Scholar, Professor Henderson will lead the development of academic reference points (or standards) for the Health discipline in collaboration with Associate Professor Maree O?Keefe (University of Adelaide). Discipline Scholars are the principal interface between the ALTC and the national bodies of deans, other discipline leadership groups and professional bodies. This will also involve engaging with the work of the ALTC in their discipline and building strong relationships with relevant ALTC projects, ALTC Fellows and discipline leaders.
