Biography
Professor Bidstrup undertook his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Adelaide. He then spent 4 years as a Medical Officer with the RAAF, reaching the rank of Squadron Leader. He completed Basic Surgical Training and advance training in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 1982. He travelled to the United Kingdom, where he spent time at Harefield Hospital, and the Hammersmith Hospital. He undertook research into the effects of cardiopulmonary bypass on the human and the impact of aprotinin on blood loss and transfusion in the late 1980s. He is currently a Visiting Medical Officer in Thoracic Surgery at The Tweed Hospital.
