Clinical Skills Centre

The School of Medicine Clinical Skill Centre is a teaching facility of 192.9 square metres used primarily for the Medical school???s own medical students to study physical examination, medical procedures and advanced life support.  The facility is, however, also available for external bookings, and to date it has hosted AMC International Medical Exams, Care flight, local Hospital Registrar???s Orientation Training Programs and Medical Education Solutions Training Days.

The Centre is equipped with a number of part task and full task trainers and includes a complete Simulation area with both a Laerdal SimMan and SimBaby which are fully automated. The Simulation areas have the ability to record all scenarios completed in the room and playback to plasma TV or burn to hard disc for review at a later date.

Currently being developed is a resource booking system which will allow students further access to the Clinical Skills area.  This is a welcome advancement to the centre as student mastery of clinical skills comes through revision and repeating the skills that have been learned in workshops.
