Commonwealth Learning Scholarships

As part of its Higher Education Reforms, the Commonwealth Government has introduced the Commonwealth Learning Scholarships Program to assist rural and regional, low income and Indigenous Australian students with the costs associated with higher education. Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH)

Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health, in partnership with the National Rural Health Alliance has a number of scholarships available for students from rural and remote areas studying an allied health discipline. For further information go to the SARRAH website.

Australian Dental Association Study Grants for Dental Students from Rural and Remote Regions

Three or four study grants are available each year from the Australian Dental Association as follows: a) in even years, four selected dental students residing in rural/remote regions of Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and the Northern Territory; b) odd years three selected dental students residing in rural/remote regions of Western Australia, Queensland and Tasmania. Closing date for applications is the end of March each year. Confirm exact closing date with the Australian Dental Association.

ADA Study Grants for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dental Students

Five study grants are available each year from the Australian Dental Association. Closing date for applications is the end of March each year. Confirm exact closing date with the Australian Dental Association.

Australian Society of Periodontology Undergraduate Student Research Scholarship

The Australian Society of Periodontology is inviting undergraduate dental students from Australian Universities to apply for a summer vacation research scholarship on a research project related to periodontology. Stipend is AUD$2,500. For details and application contact Federal Secretariat contact@asp.asn.au or available on the Society's website.

APRF Postgraduate Student Publication Awards

Periodontology or another peer reviewed publication. The winner receives a suitably inscribed plaque which is presented at the nearest major periodontal conference (Australian Society of Periodontology or ANZAP). A return economy airfare may also be provided by the sponsor. Eligible papers will be nominated by program directors at each University. Grant applications and further information found at the Society's website.

Queensland Health Rural Scholarship Scheme

Offered January each year. The rural scholarship scheme provides benefits to the assisted students and Queensland Health. Scholarship holders are provided with financial assistance to support them during full-time tertiary study in their chosen field. Following graduation, scholarship holders are contracted to be employed by the Health Service Districts in rural health care facilities throughout the State, providing rural communities with essential health services. An objective of the scheme is to provide professional health services to people living in rural and remote communities.
