Professional Biography
Ward Massey received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide in 1982 and a PhD from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Sydney in 1993.
Ward has gained extensive experience in academia in Australia with academic appointments in Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning and Restorative Dentistry at the Universities of Adelaide, Sydney and Western Australia, Charles Sturt University and Griffith University.
Moving to the United States in 2001, Ward has teaching and research experience with the University of Maryland’s, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in the fields of Restorative Dentistry, Biomaterials and Oral Diagnosis.
Ward was appointed Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 2005 and led the simulation project management team in the construction and commissioning of the new 326 dental chair Dental School building at the University of Maryland.
In January 2008 he returned to Charles Sturt University as Foundation Professor and Head of School of the newly established School of Dentistry and Health Sciences. The school was established as the result of Australian Federal government grants totalling $65.1M in the May 2007 budget.
In February 2010, Ward joined the School of Dentistry and Oral Health at Griffith University as Professor and Head of School.
Ward is an active member of the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Dental Council Accreditation Committee and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeon’s Educational Policy Board.
